Hello,
I am a newbie to the metal detecting hobby being introduced to it by my lovely fiance. I bought her first metal detector for Christmas and she wanted me to join her in her new found hobby. I also enjoy geo caching as well. I just love the thrill of the hunt. I will be getting my metal detector soon and I can't wait for our first hunt! :laughing7:

Welcome to a great hobby! Take your time and get to know your machine and what it tells you.
And remember to fill in your holes neatly! :hello:

Do you have any tips on keeping the grass in tact in grassy areas. I think the best motto is leave no trace the same as when camping.

Get a good digging tool. Use it to cut out a round plug in the grass. I carry a towel and put my dirt on it so when I fill in the hole there is no evidence I was ever there. If you keep it neat you can keep coming back. That's how I look at it. Good luck and if you need someone to hunt with I'm not far from you so your welcome to hunt with me anytime.

I was able to do my first hunt and only thing I detected was a few can tabs and a twist tie. But the most valuable actually found us when an older gentleman drove up with a smile on his face and talked with us sharing some info of places that might yield to us better prospects.:occasion14:
