Thanks
It has been raining the last few days on and off here and I was unsure if I should go out.
I have only been hitting my yard, but every time I go out there, I find something. Which is really cool.
So far it keeps me busy and helps me to learn to use my detector better.
I 'm hoping to hit some parks soon

Thanks,

Luis S

I like it after a Rain.

Ground is softer.
And I get more Depth.
At least I seem to.

HAPPY HUNTING !

A cheap one
I asked almost the same thing on my UK forum - they said that copper and other things give off better readings in/after the rain.

The last time I detected after a rain I found two nice tokens in an area we had scoured a few days before.

Due to the electronic principles involved in a detector's function, moist soil will allow your signal to travel further into the ground and you should get more signal strength.

Thank you for the replies. I couldn't figure out why the wet soil would affect it in a negative way.

I will be going through my front yard again this evening.

Tomorrow morning, my backyard will get checked again. I found a few coins and a tag of some sort the other day, I will try to post them this weekend.

Thanks again,

Luis S.

i like damp because wet gets real messy tho that won't stop me. any corodable metal gives off a halo of corrosion in the ground. the moisture enhances this halo and causes a better signal. if i hit anew spot when real dry and not do well i go back after a rain and usually do better. Bill

VLF, very low frequency, has been long ago proven very effective in wet environments.
Thats why the Navy uses it on their subs for communications.
My best finds this year so far have been just after the ground thawed and mud season set in.

T-2,
it help but find it makes it harder to detect a iron infested site, rusted iron signals seem to be increased more than other signals
