Weather be damned! Packed up the car and headed down to the ocean front today. Most of the secondary roads still had snow and ice on them, most of which was gone later in the day but pretty slow going this AM at first. The conditions of the approach to the beach weren't much better and I had to use my scoop like a cane just to get down the "luge" which was the ramp/access point. Same for crossing the beach. One big sheet of ice, just strong enough not to break unless I stamped my feet as I crossed it. After the trials and tribulations of the approach...almost broke my ass a couple of times.... I snapped a couple of "before" beach photos and set in to hunting.
Four hours and LOTS of holes later, and after having done something to tweak my back about half way through I called it quits and headed home for a HOT shower! Conditions were better than I thought they would be, the high surf has been kicking up some more stuff lately, and pulling some out of the beach but no real cuts or lows yet. Best of it was a 12.5 gram silver chain and a SS ring. Gold is still elusive but it's out there somewhere! First real cut is gonna be beautiful!
