Brunswick--they went into bowling at a later date. I have one similar but I am out of town so I can't compare it. If I remember right, it was the 20's or 30's---no, wait, it was 20's when Brunswick went from bar equipment to bowling. Remember what happend in the 20's? No demand for bar equipment. Lots of information on the internet--if I found it, I know you can also. Very interesting info.

Please!!! "My son and I", not "Me and my son"...

At any rate, this is a very nice token! The J. M. Brunswick tokens date from 1874 to 1883. The 1880 Census shows W. E. Ashton as a saloon-keeper in Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana. He may very well have been the one who issued that token, especially if this piece was found anywhere close to that town. With just initials and a relatively-common last name, though, it is tough to positively attribute it.

Well sorry about the grammer. Thanks for the ID. Winchester is 10 miles from where it was found. Thanks again.

well with the 1880 cencus --showing W E Ashton as a saloon keeper * in Winchester , Randolph county , Indiana -- and with the J M Brunswick token date range of 1874 to 1883 -- with that "overlap"

I think that you might have solved where your token came from and its rough date / age about as well as you can--- roughly --1874 to 1883 date range and from WE Ashtons saloon in Winchester (which you know existed in 1880) by the records .

tell your son that was a great find --and now he knows a bit of its history * to make it even cooler.
