Due to the lack of any new sites to hit, I decided to make a trip to a nearby spot me and a couple buds hunted about 3-4 years ago. We didn't find much there, but Evan did end up digging a British 13th Regiment of Foot button. I first hit the area up front where the old house was, and only came up with a 1929 Virginia dog tag and a cool bottle. It's a SunnyBrook peanut Pepsi from Suffolk, VA with a patent date of 1929. These are very collectible and could go from $30-50. Nice looking display piece for sure. With ridiculous amounts of iron and trash near the house site, I ventured out in the 200 acres of open fields hoping to hit a couple of nice targets. The finds were very few and far between, but I did end up with a few nice keepers. The best find was another 13th regimental button. Supposedly this one dates to the War of 1812 era, and I would appreciate if someone could validate that. I also found a gilted CW era Navy button, and a few misc colonial buttons and buckle pieces. Like I mentioned in my cut silver post yesterday, many times after we've given up on a site it somehow starts to produce again. Looks like a return trip is definitely in order.

You are having a great Colonial season, Bill. The 13th regimental button is a sweet find and the recent cut silvers are just icing on the Colonial metal detecting cake. :icon_thumleft: Just think, the year is not even close to being finished. :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft: The sandy fields along the bay are calling you and Reid. Hunt hard, dig deep, and keep the passion high! :headbang: :hello2:

Wonderful finds! It's always nice to dig a few keepers at an old spot. Those are excellent buttons, and the bottle is a beautiful one. Makes me wonder what a peanut cola tasted like...

Great looking buttons and bottle too. The 13th dates from 1800 to about 1842, so basically it would date to the time frame of your site which is within that span.
