Went back to a site Saturday evening that has had some good activity from the mid 40's til present.
The place has been hit so hard with detectors I have only found one wheat cent there and nothing else from that
date range.
I only had an 1&1/2 hours after work, so I detected until the sun set. Even had the backlight on the machine.
So, I started digging mid-tone signals, and was pulling out nickels pretty consistently.
Ended up scoring a '43 War Nickel.

Happy Huntz all!

Great score on the war nickel  I always welcome nickel signals cause a lot of the gold rings I've found have read just like them.

Cool find. I have to make myself listen in that range sometimes when I am horn dogging after silver. Early on in my hunting career, it was a goal to dig nickels. Still love to hear that sweet low tone.
