this is obviously a pottery shard. i am posting it here because i would like to know if it could be from an old wreck off shore somewhere. any way to date it? it was found in the shell line on the beach at near low tide. it is clay. heres the pics.........

It looks like the bottom section of a modern clay pot.

They said when you posted this somewhere else that the grain of the clay was too fine, and the whirl marks too regular. I would post a picture but Imageshack will now not host for me unless I join up. It just doesn't look right, but then I have only examined maybe 10 or 12 pieces off one wreck close up.
