Hi Folks,

I used to have a TomTom that had either 1.5 or 3 million
points of interest. I can not remember. I gave that one to
my son after I got a new Garmin Nuvi 205.

The Nuvi has 5 million points of interest.....

So what? you say..........

That lets me find more parks and other metal detecting
sites. There is a big town south east of here, but it is too
far for me. I felt there had to be something between here
and there.

This mornin I drove out that way and told Nuvi to give me
some parks close by.

I found a real nice one in White Hall. It is a kind of Suburb
to Pine Bluff.

This is the biggest tot lot I could find in the park ,

Then there are several small tot lots all over the place.
They are all kind of like these two,

I lost track. I do not remember how many I hunted, but
I hunted several pea gravel tot lots with MisSpeedy. (Compadre)

The last one had a supprise,

It is small, but it is a diamond,

I think that must be part of an ear ring because it is so
small.

I found a couple of junk rings, ear rings and ear ring back,
a bracelet, the ever present bullets, and other stuff,

and a pile of clad,

and a pile of junk,

I did not get all the tot lots hunted. I did not even find all of
them. But I am tired and happy now.

I had a feeling that was a diamond.

Thanks fer lookin,

Tabdog

Great diamond find TD!

Is that a gold nugget holding the diamond-looks like it to me.
yes my Nuvi gets a work out too finding parks--but--not all parks show. I have even found some good sized ones that don't show green on my Nuvi.

Dude! YOU ROCK! And.. you found a rock! <laughing> Congrats on the diamond, even if it's small, it's STILL A DIAMOND! Cool!
I hunt a lot of tot lots too, my friend, but I couldn't help but notice the ball field in the background of one of the tot lots you posted photos of. Did you hunt around that? If not, GO BACK! If you haven't hunted around a ball field ( OUTSIDE the diamond, around the bleachers, restrooms, concession stands and every inch of grass between any and all points mentioned.. including the parking.) ... well if you haven't you'll be rather pleasantly surprised at the amount of finds you will encounter. Don't overlook any retaining walls, slopes, embankments or hillsides overlooking the fields either. Anywhere people will sit, lay down, or plop down a camp/lawn chair to watch the game you will find pocket spills. Some on the surface, from relatively recent losses to stuff several inches down under the grass roots from years gone by. Woodchips are very alluring to us metal detectorists, they are easy to hunt, but they are nearly always the first place "hunted" by anyone with a detector. Check out the ball fields and surroundings. You'll thank me (ok, myself and every other detectorist out there) for steering you that way. <grin>
Again, congrats on the finds.. now PLAY BALL! <laughing>

~HAPPY HUNTING~

I'm going to have to get me one of those little magic boxes! <grin> I've been relying on Google earth (not constantly updated to be sure!) and Yahoo, map quest, google etc to find out of the way parks that I wasn't familiar with. How often are the GPS units updated anyway?

Hay Frodov,

The Garmin units get one free update. You have to get with in
a couple of months aftyer you buy it.

After that, you have to buy up-dates. They cost too much.

You can almost get a new unit for the cost of an up-date.

Happy Huntin,
