This piece is out of Iowa, I did a trade for it a couple years ago.

Has as a great point, nice bifacially sharpened edges, and a Celt like bit that shows nice polish.

3 3/4 inches long 1 3/4 wide and very thin. Anybody seen something like this before or know what to call it?

It is a bit odd, but still nice.

Was it traded for as an authentic native american relic? Just asking.

I have found smaller points make from large flakes which are called Klunk points. But I have not found a larger blade like that.

I dont see a lot of minerilzaion on it in the images.

I have scoped it. No doubt in my mind its ancient or there would have been no trade. A well known Minnesota collector showed interest in the piece and my friend was reluctant to let it go to me, but I had something he really wanted.

That is a neat and cool piece. :icon_thumright: With the spine material still intact I would suspect that that would strengthen it for use as a specialized tool of some sort. But not sure. It appears that it is possible that both ends my have been utilized, either the celt shaped end or the pointed end.

It was chipped from a large spall, not center cut from a nodule. That's why is has the curve. It was the first spall off the nodule too, that's why there is still cortex on one side. Too much curve for a spear point so it's a knife or... Gary

Nice piece, I would say knife. Like Arrow86 said, maybe the base was never finished?
