Was showing my wife the "What is It" forum, and she suddenly
walks off and comes back 5 min. later with this weird little pottery
set.

She says it came from her parents (in their late 80's) but she's not sure
the age. More importantly, we can't figure out what the heck it's for!

3 pieces; bowl, lid and the perforated insert. I was thinking it might
be some kind of tea maker, but she says no.

Ideas anyone?

I believe it is used (the center piece with the holes) in separating the tea leaves as you would pour the hot tea into a cup.

Are there any markings on the base??
and what are the brown spots?
and maybe a picture of the inside of the top.
But I think I'm in the Tea strainer camp

Not a mark on it anywhere, so I'm going to go with my
original id as everyone agrees. She'll just have to accept that
it's a tea strainer of some type.
