I'm new here but have been detecting very intermittently, for about fifteen years. My first serious detector was a Cortez, now close to 14 years old. I've always liked the Cortes because it's easy to use, comes close to predicting what's in the hole and how deep it is. I know it's not the greatest machine and I know it misses deeper targets (relative to some I'm sure). Does anyone know if the newer Cortes are any better than the older units?

There may be tweaks or internal minor changes, but I've been a loyal follower/user of Tesoros for 16+ years and have never seen any announcements or advertising of any changes so I'm thinking they are essentially the same over the years.
