Old Dudes' Home, You Name It, We Dug It...

I spent some time swingin' with some detectorist buds Sunday.

We hit up what is now a retirement home for the elderly and the adjacent property, now a funeral home.

Both are late 1800's buildings.

The first four holes I dug produced coins...
A Memorial, a Stinkin' Lincoln, a Penny and then an 1892 Barber Dime :o

Later in the day I dug a 1964 Rosie and a few Wheaties 1928, 1937 and 1952...

Then popped out this button that reads, something ??? Orange London ???

londonorangebutton.jpg

Followed by an 1890 IH, a bit "barked up" but a clear date.

After that a lead seal with a "C" on it... This was the only one I dug but the other guys dug quite a few.

Then some Whatchamacallits were un-earthed...

Of course some clad found it's way under my coil as well, mostly 1960's...

Then lastly a large spherical lead ball... "chewed" on three sides, it has the diameter of a quarter... not really sure what it is. Sorry no pic... Some grape shot perhaps ???

My fellow hunters dug two Barber Dimes, a 1900 Barber Half, a 1927? Standing Liberty Quarter, an 1875 Seated Liberty Dime, a 1960 Rosie, a silver men's ring, numerous buttons, Wheaties and IH's.

They did have the benefit of hunting the site one more day then me... lucky guys ;)

Thanx for lookin' boys and gurls!

I am just about to put my detectors away in a closet somewhere and foget them. Lastnight hunted for 4 hours and found 1 2004 quarter 1 1974 nickel a 1958 penny and a new zinc.

I envy you your finds, they are really cool!

That is the way I look at it Rudy!

Anything from the 1800's = A Good Day!

Don't worry MasterEagle... We all get skunk from time to time.

Just keep on the look out for and keep working those leads to properties that likely have the old stuff in the ground ;)

I'm currently having just as much fun trying to secure hunting spots as diggin' when we get there.

Nice finds there Nickbuff. Sounds like a nice site. Too bad you didn't get an extra day on the site also.

They are owned by seperate people...

The funeral home doesn't really resemble one... Just looks like an old house and the old dudes' home doesn't have a good view at all of the funeral home.

Both properties are quite large and beatifully landscaped, along with some HUGE old trees (blocking the view).

To give you an example, the owners of the funeral home live in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors of the house and their "work" is performed in the basement and 1st floor.

So it doesn't have a dreary look at all...

I know the family well and have even ridden shotgun in the hearse ;D

Thanx all for the compliments!

Congrats on the nice finds. Not a good idea to have a funeral home next to a nursing home. Bad for morale....Congrats...Lance
