Planned on going back to the old R.R. stablehouse but no one was home.I ended up across the road at the creek and found this old foundation sitting next to the creek. This place is full of trash...I did manage to come out with one .58 and some misc. junk....I'll take it...

Curious why they withheld $71.51 from the contract amount? Liquidated damages? Lacked certifications for some of the construction materials?  ::)

Great post. I love the pictures you provided, and that info on the old bridge. I wonder how much that bridge would of cost to build today? :D

Is it safe to say that was about the time the road was built or was the bridge rebuilt in 1875?Just another one of my dumb questions. Nice find.

That bullet looks dropped(not fired), So it is likely there are more there. Keep at that area and let us know what you find.

Love the photos Civilman! That old bridge is pretty nice, it would cost a small fortune now days to build something like that.

Times sure have changed......

CW troops were frequently stationed at bridges (both wagon road and railroad). Check that area thoroughly and let us know what you find!

The bridge wasn't even commissioned until 1874 according to the sign...wasn't the CW over 1865?
