I got a chance to hunt a nice big yard in a small town close to home. A friend had bought a house and ask if I would like to hunt the yark. (DUH) I jumped at the chance and was there at 2 oclock. My very first target was a RR baggage "way" tag from the Hannible St. joe RR. This RR was only in extistance from 1859 to 1869, as it was bought out by the Burlington RR. This is a very rare item. I also dug 5 merks and
2 Indians with some wheats. The RR tag made my day . I felt that I had a very luck day as this yard had lots of problems. There was an abundance of iron and some electrical problems as well. "The worst day detecting is better than the best day working" Thats the way I heard it.

Thank for looking.

What a day "digger". Those are terrific finds. I really like the merc's and
especially the "RR" tag. You are very fortunate to have friends like that.
Congratulations and I wish you continued success. Doug (blklab)

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. The RR tag is a nice piece of history. The internet makes it a easy to do research on those relics we dig. I have learned a lot in the last few years. I usually sell most of my good finds on e-bay so watch for this one. I sold a tag from the Jacksonville-Tampa & KeyWest RR for about $175.00 last year so maybe this one will do better.

Man those Merc's are Magnificent ...

However the Rail Road Tag is Most Righteous ...

Rock On ~ Nick

Thanks Nick: I would rather find artifacts like the tag than any rosy of clad. There is a lot of history about that railroad on the net.
