Decided the time was right to take another 1 day holiday ;D

Dad & I spent nearly 5 hours on the Roman Site I started the other evening, as the indications were good.

The aim (my guess) was to get 30 Roman Bronzes & 1 Roman Silver. We ended up with 39 Roman Coins which I'm pretty sure is our best 1 day total this year :headbang: Didn't quite get a Silver but did get a debased one of Salonian (Billion Ant.) of a new type for the collection. Plus a few album quality coins, so the season is in full swing ;D

PS. (message for Land-mag, keep an eye on the field Dad got the Roman Silver & let us know when conditions improve)

Pleased with the nice WWII Oundle Officer Training Corps school button - new type in good condition :)
Roman Bronze childs Ring, missing its stone :)
Lead dog pulling small cart? (as I found a wheel nearby) :icon_scratch:
Plenty of Roman Pottery Shards.

If you remember last year (when we first started this site), its the one that extends into the wood where we got those cracking looking coins & the odd Iron Age Coin/artefact. Very close to the Roman Brooch Field & not too far from a 3rd site, not sure how many other sites yet, as we have lots of fields to look at :P

maybe one day you will get a chance, if you want something you have to make it happen. I wanted 100lb + Catfish, I had never fished for them before (yes lots of other fish). I did the research, found a good guide in Spain with local knowledge/experience, not too expensive & although the river was flooded (went up 7ft over night with dead animals & parts of trees floating down it) the first fish I caught on the first day was 112lb, job done :D ;D Now that was a fight to remember :o

Its a circa 1790s-1810 Tombac & yes nicely decorated.
The Roman Coins are as good as you can hope for in our ploughed fields, what is a little bit of a shame is they are all fairly common types that we already have good examples of :-\ On the positive side it gives us the opportunity to give better ones to the owner.

Thanks for the information Cru. :icon_thumright:
Isn't it strange how some of your soils pretty much destroy the metals and other fields seem to actually help preserve them. I guess the key is having the correct mix of pesticides and cow urine! :D

Good luck this weekend mate,
Dave

Hey Cru,
As usual... excellent finds. I've got a question. The second picture from the bottom, the coin in the bottom right hand corner.
Doe's this coin show something falling out of the sky, between the stars? If so, I wonder if they were depicting a meteor or
something else extra terrestrial?? Interesting!!
