I'm getting really frustrated by the rain; we've had temps in the 50's for three days but too much rain to be out. So, I'm introducing a new feature today called "This date in Halfdime history." Some days there won't be anything to post, but today, as it happens, there is. Last year, on January 14, 2006, I found an 1873 Indian Head penny, an 1876-S Seated Liberty quarter, an 1884 Indian Head penny and an 1890 Indian Head. That's all I found that day, but I just remembered one other detail about this quartet: They were all in the same hole! These were found in an old cemetery where I had permission from the caretaker to search.

I forget some of these things until I look back in my log; it is fun to relive those moments. I had pulled the three Indians and was still getting a signal out of the hole. Imagine my delight to find the quarter. It is worn nearly smooth, with just enough to read a date and mint.
