I got fed up with calling 20 banks every few days just to get their loose skunk half's (mostly all are the dreaded 1971 or bicentennials), theres nothing like asking them what they have, they start stacking them on their counter and you notice that they are all clads, you give them your money with a smile ofcourse..So anyways I'm stepping my game up and picking up my first box of $500 at my personal bank today, i'm excited for sure. This is a bigger step for me into the whole CRH world. Last big score was from 110 dollars of CWR (ended up being 22oz of silver) but i'm hopeful that there's more scores like that to come! I haven't been able to find any CWR since. I think while i'm at my pickup branch I will see if they have any loose halves just for kicks, I figure asking while already having business being in the bank is a lot less awkward than randomly dropping by like I normally do. In other news, I have 2 banks in my area take my phone number and having them call me if they find anything unusual, halves, ikes, old bills etc. I find that if i'm calling a bank and they say that they have no halves, than I will from now on I will atleast give them my contact information, hey you never know right?! And if they do I will come in with candy or something like most of you guys would, reward them for their kindness! Anywho I will be posting the results of my finds later. thanks guys. :icon_thumleft:

Good luck. My first $500 box was a big disappointment, 1/10 coins some idiot wrote the date he apparently searched through them. All skunks. Order 1K at a time, and you will be alot less disappointed. As for gifts, I never gave any yet, but, for chirstmas, I might bring some cheap gift cards in, or perhaps some sealed candy, or a box of sealed cookies--- TO the dump banks that is. Receiving bank's don't give them anything unless they save stuff for you.

Okay so NO SILVER (shocker I know) but it did yield some interesting OTHER results..I saw about 20% had white marks on the edges which probably means another hunter went through some of the coins although they were all machine wrapped..The teller did ask me if i was "look for the silver ones", they seemed to be very interested on why I would ever want a whole box lol, I said no i'm just looking for certain dates, then we play poker with them, they all laughed like they usually do with that line..I also made sure to take 600 dollars out of the bank first and not a perfect 500 to make it less suspicious when I drop them off at another location..The biggest pain was wrapping them back but I started to get faster as I went and my hands were coated..Makes me wonder how someone can go through 12 boxes and reroll them all in the same day, that's some insane fingerwork even if your just edge checking and not looking for uncirculated like i was..All in all it was exciting having so many rolls to unwrap, there was no cool enders or anything but the suspense was fun...I did find some cool Mid 2000's and a Late 2011 half. I also found one of those cool golden ones (electroplated and stamped 1983) which was neat. There was a bunch of 1997 halfs that were in near uncirculated condition too. Oh yes and a super slick half that was worth showing off!.All and all I will be trying again ofcourse, still wondering how dropping this 500 at the bank is going to go over, owelll the only thing they can do is give me a hard time I recon lol...see pics:

that really worn coin might be worth money.

look up "low ball" coin sets. can you make out the year? People enjoy putting togeather sets of the most worn coins they can find.

search ebay completed listing, you would be suprized.

I tried to find a completed listing for a low ball Kennedy.

As long as its not machine worn, it is collectible as a low ball. The year might be gleaned for other dye markers.

No boxes till next week so I decided to buy 25 dollars worth of pennies, I always have fun with pennies, they are cheap and give you plenty to do. What I like to look for are Wheaties, Freaks(really crazy bad looking coins), Canadian coins, 1999 lincoln cents, proofs and Error varieties (closed AM 1992) etc...I will also occasionally keep the pre-1982 pennies too. The only problem is your hands get really funky after but its allll good, nothing soap cant get rid of.

these are my results from the box:

15 Wheat Pennies

Thanks for checking reading! Out of curiosity, how many wheat pennies do you guys find in 25 dollars worth of coins? Cheers! :headbang:

I got two more wheat pennies than you did, for free, did not even need to sort through them, better condition and slightly older too. Asked if I could have them while watching the reject tray of the coin counter pile up. Good find, question, did you order the box in, or did you just ask if they had any boxes of pennies?

Okay so over the weekend I did 2 boxes of loomis halves, the results weren't very epic but I was able to get one 1968 and a 1978 s proof half (first proof found) all found in the same box. I wanted to do multiple boxes this week using only 500, so I ordered a 2 boxes at 2 separate locations, picked up, searched, dumped, picked up, search, dump..I don't know about these loomis boxes though I'm considering ordering from a brinks bank just to test the waters and also focusing more on CRW for now, till I can start getting a lot more boxes per week..anywho the search continues, gah i am addicted..

I use brinks where I am. No luck yet with halves. With pennies I usually get between 5-12 wheats.

Stopped by a random bank today, one a little farther out, I'm going to have to branch out (no pun intended) in order to bust these cwr stashes..Anywho the teller said he had 250 dollars worth of random customer wrapper rolls. Got there and ended up being 300 dollars worth and ofcourse I bought them all, some of the wrappers really looked old. Took em home started opening and right off the bat clad, clad and more clad, most of which was unmarked by other searchers. The teller mentioned that the rolls came in slowly over a long long period of time. The results are no silver, one roll had all 1972 half's inside which was funny, there was about 8 factory sealed brinks rolls all clad too. Now on to the strange finds during opening the plain paper rolls, I thought I found a few silvers because the edge was so shiny but it was over the top and the dates were wrong all after 1970. It was weird my excitement quickly vanished after realizing that the coins were electroplated or something. I tested them with my magnet and they attract pretty hard, they are in very good condition tho, see pics for more details..all in all ya never know until you pick em up and open them for yourself ya know. scratch that bank off the list has some value to it thats for sure, but like always the only way to quench the silver thirst is to try again! Take that 300 and try again..
