These supports for a chest were scattered everywhere at a small school site yesterday, Still have to cover that whole area again, I counted them when i got home, a few corner pieces seem to be missing. Whats pictured isnt even half of the supports. Hit 2 other school sites today for an hour or two, found a 47 Rosie & a small ring the same size as the dime.

its not much, but it made me smile today,
enjoy

That's a lot of fittings for a chest. Do you suppose since this was a school site they had a wood shop and these were some of the supplies?

Nice hunt. A bit strange to find almost all of the components for a chest :icon_scratch: Maybe there is one under there somewhere ??? Nice old Rosie too

Seeing the parts of the chest reminds me of the joke where the little boy is digging in a pile of poop and when his mom asks him why...he sez, "well with all this poop, there's GOT to be a pony in here somewhere!"

All those pieces were in a 10x10 area, with one piece that mudswat found about 50 feet away. every one of those were about 3 inches down, got tired of digging them, all i did for an hour is dig trunk pieces. This is a site where a mid to late 1800s one room school house sat, so my guess is it was just a chest of school supplies. books, games, rulers. all the things they would have used up untill about the 40s or 50s. I figured id give it a few days before going back, maybe itll rain a bit and some more signals will show up in that little area.

Thanks,

If you're handy with woodworking, it would be neat to make a "treasure chest" of your own with those found parts to keep your finds in. Strange to find them all together like that...

Yeah, ill do something with them, they do have a nice medevil look to them, ill clean them up and see how they turn out. if I have enough to design something nice then maybe ill have them sandblasted and painted black. They would make a nice little chest.

First pic-bottom middle loks like a "crown" soda cap remover. Maybe it was an earlier soda cooler?

Actually I believe thats where your fingers would go to lift the lid, and open the chest.
