What do you think it's advantages are?

The negative is cost.

The positives are depth, tracking & Minelab Xchange.

As for the quality of the Deus, it's a pretty darned good machine and quite capable. I've even considered buying one myself to go along with the CTX. But then, I'm quite insane about the hobby :)

I really don't know which one is better, but since I have the CTX I'm obliged to say the CTX is better. It really is a dream machine, and it is wonderfully balanced - I can swing it all day.

Keep all three.

You can never have enough detectors.

Big difference in weight between the two, so if you buy the CTX you are going to need a stronger arm.

And you see that's why I was buying the XP because with the big coil on my AT Pro is heavy. I'm gonna keep that one for how the water. But what I heard about the XP was they don't have a good distinction between quarters and bottle tops is that true?

Many of my friends swing one of the two. They all love the machine they are using. From what I've read and learned from talking with many detectoists and some dealers, is that the CTX is the BEST coin shooter, it's waterproof, but more expensive. The Deus on the other hand is a deep detector, ultra-light, wireless, and has a huge following (me included). My F75 gets heavy with the 15" coil, I use a harness to neutralize the weight if I plan on swinging it for more than a couple hours.

Depth, sensitivity, discrimination, programmability, durability.

Come on, seriously? My 5'1", 100-lbs muddy, hunting partner has no problem swinging hers for 5-hours at a time with me. 8-)

I love my Ctx for water and wet sand. The gps and exchange complete it. I have tennis elbow and had to buy the minelab pro swing 45 harness but I can't say enough good things about this machine.

I use both. I like both. They are both very capable of going deep. Both are programmable. Both have good seperation and will clearly identify deep iron. The CTX is water proof. The DEUS needs an antenna for water hunts. The CTX is heavy. The DEUS is light.
There are lots of things these machines can do that the AT PRO cannot.
What I don't understand is, if you don't own both, if you haven't used both,, how can you express an honest comparison??

Neither. Both machines are overkill just to dig mercury dimes. Get a used Explorer and save thousands, get close to the same performance.

Explorers get no where near the depth of the 3030 and only the SEPro is still supported by Minelab. Explorer, Exp II, Exp XS can not be repaired if they break down and it is a keypad, screen or the motherboard issue...

I've heard people complain about the etrac and I've had no problem swinging it 5-6 hrs at a time.

Here's my opinion. You can get a 3030 for a LOT of money, or just buy a really big coil for the AT pro for $200. Just sayin'.

I ordered the Attack 15" and returned it 2 days later. To heavy for my comfort and if you use it anywhere, besides a big open cornfield, it sounds like the 4th of July.

I own both the CTX and the deus. And they both have their place in my digging world. In super heavy iron the Xp out shines the CTX all day long. The reactivity and recovery speed is why i use it. I don't care for the VDI of the deus so when I use it I dig everything. The deus is not good for salt water beaches. It does well in dry sand but for me is not stable enough for the wet. I love the tones and Id of the CTX. It is my go to for water hunting and land hunting that I want target ids that I am sure of. It is often what I use to scout sites. I love the CTX on the beach. Like I said they each have their place and for me they cover everything under the sun except hot ground. I don't have a spot to hunt hot ground so that doesn't bother me.
