It has been reported that the Oregon Viking can't keep his size 15 foot atta the throttle! Small town, been here since 1969. Wifey says ... you get a ticket ... then a bunch of stuff I can't post!

I will post a power braked smokey burnout as soon as I learn to use the timer/video of my camera.

2.25 exhaust and restrictive Y pipe gone. I will keep the cat but it will be sitting on a shelf in the garage, smog removed.
A few minor TBI enhancements, mainly to fix the restrictions.
VaRoom!

New (older) re-curve Bear recently acquired. 1956-1978 I believe more research to be done.

My brief searches suggest leather handle on the Cub ended in 58.
In 59 medallions were being inserted/inlaid. Starting with copper in 59.

Looks challenging to date.
Congrats on the acquisition!

Ah yes, after a bit of interweb searching... You are correct sir!

Beginning in 1959, all Bear bows had a coin medallion of one type or another. The coin was copper in 1959, then changed to Aluminum in 1960-61, and Pewter in 1962. Brass coins were used in 1963-1970, and nickel-silver in 1971-72.

With my draw length I would be suited for a 68-70 inch bow. This being 62 is going to get pulled a bit further. It was inherited from my father-in-law.

One site of course says don't shoot it... l.o.l..
Another hints that medallions were not 100% accurate due to previous years in the mix ,or just mixing in the bin. (?)

Tillering during a build involves gentle flexing of the limbs. Easing into it so to speak. Maybe yours could be eased into life again.

Custom string a bit long might help too.
"Regular strings can (memory is faint) run an inch and a half plus or minus short from end to end of string grooves.
By twisting string is made tighter , and by untwisting ,lengthened.
But only so much effective tightness or looseness in the string itself before it affects string performance.

I found an old (non Bear) long bow for the kid long ago to use at blackpowder shoots. One limb slightly warped but it performed decent.
Took my time exercising it's limbs , gradually increasing amount of flex repeatedly before drawing it.
