Well actually yesterday. Spring finally came back to WNY so I decided to try at my old High School again. Dug one hell of alot of holes, but made out pretty good! In the pic of the evil finds, in the right hand corner is an object the almost gave me a heart attack! With the odd shape, the cross shape and partially covered in dirt, I'm thinking COB!! Then realized... ROCK...aww crap! But in all made out good with $4.60 in clad a 1910 S wheatie, three buttons and a 14k mans wedding band, sterling ring and sterling Virgin Mary medal. Thanks for looking.

Great finds and love the rings. Did you hunt the field itself or the edges. Where were the rings and how deep.

Did the gold ring show as pulltab? Hope not...ugh...hate them.

Hi SKD,

It was the football field, I checked width wise across the field. Both silver pieces were more towards the center of the field and the gold was on the edge. Both silvers were about 4 1/2 " deep, the gold about 1". The silver ring rang up as penny-dime on the DFX, the medal as 50 cents and the gold as 5 cent-ring.

Amazing...

You guys remind me of my father - it's the 20th anniversary of his death and he had one of the last productive silver minds in the Mojave Desert. He was a Digger at heart and published this poem in honor of his fellow treasure hunters ...

Let it never be said that the sourdough is dead
Only the sceptics have bid him farewell
Rewards from the mine are but a matter of time
But the earth weeps from the sweat of his toil
It's down in the dark where a miner makes his mark
Where adventure and fortune are waiting
Treasures of the deep are fast asleep
Waiting for him to awaken them

Ray Caldwell 1925 - 1988

I'm his proud daughter, Donnita Caldwell Reiman.

Thanks.
