Pastures New.....& back to Pastures old...
Land-Magnet had lined Dad & I up some pasture fields on some new land. This new land has some nice targets to hunt after harvest but these cattle grazing area were a punt. Dad & I only had 1.5 hours on this land & the signs were poor. I was relieved to get a new type of 18th Century Button top. (Picture 1) We left LM to explore a couple of other fields (he already had the best find of the hunt with a Silver 18th C cufflink piece), but we wanted to check a field Shaun7 had reminded us of recently.
The field is right next to a railway & normally very weedy (never ploughed anymore), however the ground was the best we have seen it. So my tactic was to hunt the normally weedy areas next to the railway line (also not searchable when trains are passing), where we had hunted the least. It paid of as I had a nice little Medieval Buckle & a nice 18th Century Button (another one I need)
So after 1.5 hours we went home just about avoiding a bust.
