Patience Patience Patience pays off at late 1890's house. Contest Winner Too...

Went down to Hinsdale this morning in hopes of getting permission at a tear down.
Got there at 8:00am to see the person in charge was just arriving.
Introduced myself and asked about detecting.
She said that she already is allowing a guy named Steve to detect.
So I waited a bit by going to the big island in between the streets and detected there.
Found 2 dog tags and a 1932D penny.
Went back to the house for awhile and stood around talking.
I asked her, If he doesn't show can I go a head. She said I'll call him...
She called and left a message. In the mean time I went over to a park for an hour and got nothing.
Went back to the house and she said that he might show...So I left.
I drive 2 blocks and parked at a triangle park and my phone rings....
He's not going to make it so you can go for it....
Back to the house we go....
It's now 11:00......3 hours later....beautiful weather....wasted away on a no shower.....
Took about 2 swings and pulled a 1907 Barber Dime out..... ;D ;D ;D
10 minutes later it's RAINING >:( >:( >:(
I stuck it out.....
Stayed til 1:30 cause I had to be home.....

It turned out to be a good short hunt...
I got a trifecta with silver dimes.
A 1914 Illinois Motor Vehicle Tag>>>> WINNER OF NEILS CONTEST......
8 wheats
53 cents in gas rebate
Broach
RR baggage tag
Clip on earring
JUNK

Lots of pics

I almost left ... Jez you get permission and then don't show.....it was frustrating....

They've got to be out of their minds to be tearing that house down. What a shame, looks like a real beauty.

Nice finds though! Good thing Steve didn't show up. Did you know that I use the name Steve when I call potential sites for permission? Sorry I kept you waiting for nothing Bob...lol! jk!

Sweet dimes and congrats on winning the vehicle liscence tag sweepstakes. I didn't think one of those would be found this soon.

Geez, that's one fugly female on that ear ring.

Didn't ask about giving the basement and attic a lookover? There's gotta be a bottle of booze stashed in one of them walls!

Brooch might be a hat pin or hair pin sans the stick pin. Found a couple that were similar in appearance but had the stick pins. Looks awesome!

Good hit Bob!

Nice persistence on getting to detect that place! I agree that its a shame that is being torn down. It looks good from the outside. Nice finds!

WTG Bob! Congrats on winning the contest too!

Think we can get a fourth? I have a silver coin in my hand (not a dime) that I will send to the next T-Netter to dig one of these in '09.

Neil never said what it was, only that it wasn't a dime. Perhaps he'll give you a silver plated chuck e cheese token ;D
