A friend who owns a double lot in NW, DC gave me permission to hunt anytime. Today was my first attempt. There is a house from the 1920s on the property and there may have been another house next to it.

There's an unbelievable amount of trash and probably treasure.... Almost every swing beeped.

I found my first Barber Dime, a 1899. Unfortunately I scratched it but oh well. I also found some wheats, clad, etc.

A fishing weight, pottery and some interested dog licenses. One is from 1939 and says WIEN for Wienerimer and the other is from 1941-'42.

The sash buckle (?), I'm assuming is from 1900s or 20's-- no clue.

The last item is a mystery. I thought it might be a wine cap but it's huge. It also has an monogram and some writing. The only words I can make out about the monogram-- ANNUAL DINNER.

Cool finds, I would definitely take some time to dig the junk out and get to the good stuff, some of which you've already found. Nice barber, congrats

Congrats on the Barber... 1800s to boot. Well played sir!

Congrats on your first Barber. I've been detecting for 35 years and have found a whole lot of Barbers, but never get tired of them. Scratching one here and there is just part of detecting. Hit a really nice seated dime with my digger not long ago, just glad I didn't hit any of the seated quarters, half dollar or my only gold coin. Looks like you're on a nice spot. Go back and go slow.

On the monogram, I can also make out the word "Seventh" in front of Annual Dinner, and the letters "N" and "Y" straddling the upright where the "C" overlaps the T. Possibly indicating New York. Can't make out the lettering at the bottom. Maybe you could tease that out if you lightly ran over it with a paper and pencil?

Nice Barber. !

You will be pulling treasure out of there for years, they make a big magnet with wheels, roofers use them to clean up the nails, you could clear a lot of junk that way, maybe do a 10x10 then hunt it for a while.

That big mystery item kinda looks like a mason jar lid.

Good Idea, thanks!

The one with the monogram is actually about the size of a silver dollar but you might be referring to the large metal ring. If so, that is a big chunk of lead. I'll be going back again for more! : )

Oh that's a cool opportunity there!
