Actually I have been in law enforcement a long time and the permit check idea is very simple and easy. Most battlefields have night vision cameras and motion sensor. With the rangers and the county sheriffs office it would be easily maintained.
......... I hate to say this to you ..... But ones in law enforcement are the ones i do not trust...........So when you say you are in law enforcement it gets no points with me................

I don't need points. I don't need your trust but granted I would stand beside each and very brother and sister metal detectorist and fight for the right. People like you who demean everyone who doesn't have the same views and ideas as you can watch your own back. I'll put it this way you know how many of my superiors I have had to get into arguments with about trying to issue citations or arrest people metal detecting who wasn't even breaking the law but most douchebag cops don't care. They see you digging up dirt and walking around someone's property. Most don't give a crap what permission you may have they still put you down simply because they can. But whatever.

This right here tells me you're full of it! Anyone who has ever been a cop knows you have ZERO authority to walk onto private property, with no complaint, and arrest someone who is breaking no laws. I can walk around my yard with a loaded shotgun all day and police can't arrest me because I am breaking no laws. I can tell a cop to get off my property and unless he is there to arrest someone, he has to leave. Go back to school and stop making up stories to make yourself look important.

I believe civilwar22 was stating that his superiors wanted people arrested or issued citations and he wouldnt do it.He was defending the detectorists. Please correct me if im wrong civil war 22

Rjc you are correct Jason you are absolutely way way out of your league. I was stating that these people were on public property and the superiors would want me to run them off even though these people had permission. They wanted written permission not verbal. And by law it doesn't take written permission to be on someone's property.

And actually Jason walking around in your yard with a shotgun is disorderly conduct and in some instances could be justified as justified for a mental exam. Not only that but you tell a cop to leave and he is there for some answers or asking you something and you tell him to leave your looking at obstruction of governmental operations. So you go back to law school or please walk outside with a loaded shotgun and act stupid and then tell them to leave.

and you guys are arguing about what? You want to hunt National Parks then write your senator, congressman, the parks dept. Or get a lawyer and try to get enough support to get the case into some kind of federal court. But laws and rules don't get changed by themselves. No sense attacking each other. Both have the right to speak your mind. As for running around with a shotgun in your yard, well, in the south and no further west than where I am, that's called looking for dinner if you live in a small country town. Then you hunt up some greens(yeah, they grow wild) and you have a pretty decent meal. In the city you ain't gonna nail nothin worth eatin so better not to wave that gun around. Besides, before the police can get you a gangbanger will...
