They are quite beautiful. It does look like a young bird or else it is within the molting stage.

Great job capturing that beauty! We had some when we first bought the farmland. They are no longer around. We have a group very active around here called Pheasants Forever. There are just too many predators for them to survive here.

Great job capturing that beauty! We had some when we first bought the farmland. They are no longer around. We have a group very active around here called Pheasants Forever. There are just too many predators for them to survive here.
That's going on all over the Midwest. I use to head out in the morning in Iowa and bag my daily limit of three by noon 45 years ago. This one field I hunted this English Spaniel would come out and join me. I think he belonged to the owner of the farm, but that dog would move his head in every position I pointed the muzzle of that shotgun to. He'd retrieve the birds also. He just loved to hunt with who came around.
