Well went to a local farm this morning. When I got there 4x4rs parked all over the place (it's pheasant shooting season). Thought it was a good idea to keep well clear. I went as far away on the farm as I could from the shooting. Still did ok, the coin is a hammered silver half groat of James 1, second coinage 1604-19. p.s hope the pheasants are ok !.

Nice finds Rob, doubt they were shooting pheasants as it's illegal to shoot game on a Sunday :icon_thumright:

Hello Colin, heard plenty of shooting coming from the woods, can't think what else they would be shooting :dontknow:. perhaps some don't follow the law.

illegal to hunt in Massachusetts on Sunday.....
speaking of pheasants - I was in the meadows (i.e. "field of dreams") on Wed and there was a dead pheasant in the road.....I suspect the coyotes will be having that as a snack in the evening.....

good sandy soil Cru, few stones.

Sounds even luckier, in our sandy area's the items are cut to pieces, where as the heavy clay seems to protect things from the plough/rollers etc....

Nice Buckle!

Pheasants , and deer here in California are becoming rare since the ban on leg hold traps. All the Coyotes have been feasting on them as well as small dogs and housecats.
