A new hunting buddy has a Deus, which he folds up/collapses to luggage size. I think it's a replacement shaft, seems I saw an ad for something like that. Or maybe my memory thought it saw something somewhere about it. But his Deus collapsed as I watched him put it away.

I started with a (Treasure Cove) TC-1023 back in 2014. It was a good beginner unit. Mine had 3 tones. The meter is just for looks and the 8" coil did not get much depth. After 60 days into the hobby I upgraded to a Fisher F4 with the 9" x 11"DD coil. If cost is concern, I'd buy a used detector from your vicinity.

I took my Tesoro Silver Sabre 2 and cut the shaft in 4 places and used so old part shafts pieces to connect them together . Now the largest is a mere 15.5 inches and it fits in a small case . That and a few minor pot adjustments and I have a killer back up and I mean KILLER cause it's now super-tuned and deep . HH , Woodstock
