I had to get an oil change for my vehicle and decided to metal detect across the street for 1.5h hours at a park that I've never been too. Besides, I have to do pre-warm ups for my 8hr marathon metal detecting day this coming Sunday. Thanks to all who have submitted their guestimates. Received over 70 responses to date. May the best guesser win the prize. See my post in the " Discussions" forum for additional information.

Items found w/ pics:

(1) 33 coins (clad)
(2) A bell that has GOOD ROADS embossed on it (Anyone know what this is?) Found at 7" depth next to the public library in Huntington Beach, CA.
(3) Emblem with a "B" and has ALL BKLYN engraved on the surface. This was found near a BaseBall diamond. Could it represent the old Brooklyn Dodgers baseball? I'd be surprised.
(4) A most curious find. Half torn photocopy of a $100 bill. Both sides. Guess the counterfeiters flunked counterfitting school.

Presently mental, not metal
??? That fake halfer makes one scratch their head & ponder. . what???? ??? Perhaps the individual who "copied" it was planning on doing the tie it to a string & jerk it away when someone stops to have a look eh ;D

Great finds! Congrats!!

Well I did guess 73 but with this new information I'm thinking about changing it to 165.

Theory: 1.5 hours equals 33 coins which averages 11 coins in 30 minutes. For an 8 hour hunt at that rate you should recover 176 coins but with such a long hunt you will most likely take a break or two to drink and/or eat. Let say 30 minutes worth of breaks. 176-11=165.

So 165 would be the smart guess but I'll stick to my original 73. lol (wife was born in 1973)

Good luck

I would not guess a number, but don't over due it! A lot of factors willtake place...are there a lot of surface coins, has park been heavily hunted...what kind of shape are you in....did you remember your lunch snacks and a extra battery...even maybe a roll of toilet paper? Also don't stay and make yourself sick to try and reach a silly number. usually once a week i hit 100 coins, that is enough for me, other 2-3 hours 50 -80 coins is enough. Good luck if the area is not giving up a lot of coins don't stay 8 hours! ;)
