No defending their rights guaranteed under the Constitution......

Rebel it appears you believe that any law written is legal once written and has to be followed, that any order given by a President is valid even if it violates the Constitution....?????

If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so."
Thomas Jefferson

"The general rule is that an unconstitutional statute, though having the form and name of law, is in reality no law, but is wholly void, and ineffective for any purpose; since unconstitutionality dates from the time of it's enactment, and not merely from the date of the decision so branding it.

No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law, and no courts are bound to enforce it." - Sixteenth American Jurisprudence, Second Edition, Section 256 137, 180

Can't find yer Thomas Jefferson quote... ANYWHERE! WHERE referenced...?
So, US CONSTITUTION could be deemed as "unlawful" via 16th AJ, 2nd Ed. Sect. 256 137, 180...?

Using the violence begets violence reasoning we would still be a British colony.

Once a right is surrendered you will never get it back except by violence and surrendering the only means means to do so it is a lost cause before it starts. Even Ghandi understood that....

Is Canada or Australia still British colonies - or India for that matter. There are other paths.

Do you think the civil rights movement would have been successful if the organization as a whole had turned it into an armed struggle??

And all without the need of weapons - go figure. Would these hugely successful movements have succeeded if they chose violent uprising instead? Would love to hear any opinions on that.

The violent uprising coming will start when they start confiscating weapons from American citizens.....

PROBABLY would NOT have been as successful; "long time coming"... it was "DUE".

India having been fleeced of wealth (follow the missing gold)and the site of more up coming protest was left to its own devices. The result of how many years of peaceful protest resulted in 15 million displaced. With a law broken back during salt protest was that still peaceful protest?

Rebel there are posts with references to bible.

Only political discussion allowed has to be related to 2nd which this topic is.

How long did it take for India to gain freedom, 200 years and there was lots of combat in that time.

Do you think we would wait that long to recover a right guaranteed by our
Bill of Rights.? I wouldnt, I want surrender it to begin with.

Should the civil rights movement have used armed revolt to reclaim their constitutionally given right to vote - never mind life, liberty and pursuit of happiness? Would the movement had been as successful?

I completely agree gap metal. It would have been easy for the civil rights movement to turn very violent. Some small fringe groups such as the panthers did use violence ( and it was a miserable failure). Southern white citizens and governments certainly used their second amendment rights to full avail against the movement. But violence was not met with violence. If the civil rights movement took up violent revolt to enforce their constitutional rights would it had been a successful movement?
