Julian for sure! Just went on a gold mine tour their. Our gold here in San Diego is a dust/flour looking, not like the placer gold in Northern California. I've also heard of people going out to the desert i.e. Ocotillo Wells, with a dry washer. Maybe try to find some older maps were water flowed. Hope this helps and good luck!
