I sent a letter to my local state representatives about HB 1077 concerning dredging.

Please do not support this bill as written.
For every scientific study showing proof that dredging is detrimental to the environment, fish habitat or water quality, there is a study showing that just the opposite is true. Get all the facts on both sides of the argument, don't be swayed by any special interest groups.
Get and decide only on the facts, not politics. That's why you were elected.
If the sponsors are worried about an influx of out of state dredge operators, then charge a non-resident permit fee along with limiting the number of out of state permits. The laws/rules contained in the Gold and Fish pamphlet are already well written in respect to the protection of the environment and aquatic life of our waterways.

Thank you for your time,

M. Wentworth

and got this response.

1077 is dead. It did not get out of committee by the committee cutoff date.
