IF the people who run the store wanted to detect the place, I don't think they would ask permission from the landowner.

The operators of the stores giving you permission is kind of the same thing, isn't it? Why go over THEIR heads?

In other words...GO FOR IT!

When a person rents a property he may do or allow whatever he wants as long as it is not spelled out in the renters agreement , if there is one. I would hunt the propertyand leave it up to the renters to deal with land owners. As always respect the property and comply with basic metal detecting rules. Good hunting!

If you hunt it, you would be at risk of having your detector, digging utensils, and transportation impounded. Your home would have a lien placed against it, your employee would be obligated to fire you, your dog confiscated, and you would never be able to get a seat on an airplane again. You'll be banned from all detectorist sites and stores, you'll be made to undergo mandatory neutering, and could possibly be made to stand trial before the United Nations. I'd say go for it!!! ;D

Go ahead and hunt it. Just don't park your backhoe where it blocks the driveway! Monty

For the record, I'v Hunted places on the Permission of Neighbors.

There are MANY places around here that are owned by people from
other states. (Alot of pre 1900 houses around here sell for $30,000 or less)
? ?the people from big cities, buy them on speculation.
then They sit Empty. Grass gets high, owner gets threats of fines,
? The neighber is paid to keep the grass mowed and an eye on the place.
When a neighbor says "He wont care he lives in Virginia".
I for one Go for it with a clear conscience.
? After all the people who can see you doing it, are the ones who would be the
first to report you.

As long as someone, in charge of the property has said It's ok, They take responsability, in my eyes.

? IF a Grounds Keeper, Security Guard, or Cop says "go-for-it", Are you going to
go over their head to find out if they can let you hunt ? or ask them to sign a Liability
waiver ? They are not even paying rent on it.

? IF a D.C. Cop or Security Guard, or even the Grounds Keeper,
in Washington D.C. Working at the white house,
gave me permission to Hunt the White house Lawn.

I personally wouldn't second guess him/her.

I'd Hunt it? ;)
