Quick hunt get me my first coin from the 1800's

This is a very ugly 1880 Indian Head. Pulled at a hunting partners site that dates back to 1860's. We were only swinging for a little bit, but I managed to recover this coin, clad, newer token, and a Washington County dog tag. My first Indian head and first 1800's coin....I sure wish our soil was nicer to old copper coins :-\ :-\ :'( :'(

At least you can read the date. :) Like our wheats, most of our IH's come out bad looking too. Every now and then though we get some sites that are good to them.

Congratulations and enjoy. ;D

Yeah, I have seen the stuff my buddy has pulled from this site....Lots of silver seated coins and up. He also recovered the 1860 Abraham Lincoln Presidental Medal that's in the finds section of my website here. Great hunting grounds, but few and far between since he has been hitting very hard over the last 3 year. So, he say's....My first and and I got a 1880's coin ;D

Nice finds StormTrooper,
I found my first Indian Head last year, can't read the date and like your location our soil really likes to chew on Abe's.

Can't wait to find my next Indian, hopefully the date will be legible next time.

Congrats, Storm! I agree, if you can read the date you are really doing good. I dug one (clad) today, I could barely read 1997 on it.
