New land!

Met up with my newbie (detectorist) friend to do a small 2 acre stubble area. Its in the corner of a 60 acre field, same field I had the Saxon Stirrup Mount in, but the opposite side.

Dad plotted the edge of the field & then helped teach & dig for the new guy. We are very thankful for him finding this land at the worst time of year. Its his second time with me but already he has his first silver coin. One I haven't seen before. Italian coin of 18?3, he will ID it at home.

After 2 hours he left us to finish off, other than leaving a few strips for him to do at his leisure.

I did about 4.5 hours & Dad about 2.5 hours.

Pleasing result with a hammered each. Dad's was foldered in half, but had a mint I didn't reconise, so I opened it up a little to get a full ID. Not going to straighten anymore as it will break. It turns out to be our first Irish Penny of Edward I, minted at Waterford.Mine was a Canterbury Mint of Ed I.

I got an early crotal bell right in the last piece of ground we covered. :)

You find some terrific buckles, excellent as per usual.

The big Georgian shoe buckle was a rare complete find in a ploughed field (I only have a couple others), it survived as it was about 1ft deep. Nice surprise to dig a deep hole & get something other than a horseshoe, coke can, or plough bit.

or oil drum.
You highlight by, left clicking at the start of the sentence or word & hightlight the area you want, then press the 'green' G next to the striked throw S above the smilies. I hope that made sence :icon_scratch:

You must have one freaky-ass collection of Hammered silver, yep, freaky-ass. American slang. Ya gotsta show us all of them in one picturesque setting. Preferably perched on a nice, black velvet backing. And a Guinness. Ice cold. Not warm.

It would take to long to get them out the album & put back again, sorry.
