The WWII US Army rifle proficiency badge, was my good find of today. Think this is a first silver military medal finding for me! Quite a thrill it was and unexpected in the ground. Got a 1946 silver dime also so it was a double good silver day !

Silver dimes are fairly common finds. But that sterling silver medal is an exceptionally nice little treasure. Congrats on that one.

Nice silver! It is a rifle badge for someone qualifying as expert (hitting 36 min out of 40 shots). I didn't know they were silver though. I need to check mine. Great finds!

Yep expert rifle qualification badge...very cool find indeed. I was unaware that you could get them in sterling. I bet it's a b*tch to keep it shiny! Can't have dull badges and buttons on your dress uniform!

Hi beez , yeah I guess so silver of any sort is uncommon out here it seems but yeah medals should be a lots less common ! Thanks bro =)

Hi dirtlooter thanks, yeah probably so! I know that my dad had rifle marksmanship like that and he was infantry and went to Germany during WWII and then after he did artillery train also. And if they had not dropped the Bomb then he would have been off to Japan in artillery division.

Yeah thanks ! It came out of the ground just as it was. All I did was soak it in some soapy water. Maybe they would put clear enamel on them to stop tarnish?

Congrats on a great find, found a silver one awhile back but yours is much more ornate. Nice dig.

It was very hard to keep it shiny so most of us bought the Stay-Brite kind. Don't have to polish those.
