Really dirty coins...

So, I've wrapped up my first weekend as a "hunter." No major finds to report, but some really dirty modern coins. As a coin collector, I have always been taught, NEVER clean a coin. However, some of these are barely recognizeable and clearly have no numismatic value, so I would like to know, all you experienced folk, what you do with coins. Let's say, coins that you are sure are not worth more than face value, and then a different(?) answer for coins that you are sure ARE worth more than face value (like that 19th century gold piece I hope to find some day!)

Thanks,

Mike in Oregon

In the first place , as you said their barely recognizeable.

So they Realy have NO Value.

Once you Clean them, They At least Have Viewer Value.

And Sometimes, Like on EBay that's all that matters.

i would take it on a coin by coin basis, as some just need some coin conditioner or nic-a-lene or something. others i just clean until they look good enough for display :)
