Just finished reading "Zip - Zip: The Advanced Course" (on nugget hunting)
by Larry Sallee.

It tells how important mind set is in nugget hunting.
The book in essence emphasized focus, concentration, positive
attitude, confidence - to the extent it started sounding like
self-hypnosis and mind control.

So I'm wondering - maybe all that focus and attention, and the
direction, concentration of one's will helps to create forces that
bring the finding of nuggets to that person. In other works, by
totally focusing on a positive outcome, that person actually
creates the environment that produces the gold for him. :o

I could ONLY post that question here in dowsing, where people
have an open mind - - else I may get escorted out of TreasureNet!
Ha, ha! :D

Hey UncleVinnys….We have had a few people tell us how they use mental dowsing while using their Metal Detectors. It all amounts to whatever works for you. Every treasure hunter who is any good will use every tool, all his brain and anything else to locate what he seeks. The concept is pretty easy…If you are looking for gold and there is none in the area you will find nothing. Do your research and teach your mind where the gold should be hiding. Then you will see your “finds” go up….Art

Hi Vinny,
interesting topic. I'm a long time 'diviner' and 1st time poster.

There's several books on this topic. i have a few. For example:
The Divining Mind: A Guide to Dowsing and Self-Awareness (Paperback)
by T. E. Ross (Author), Richard D. Wright

I prefer the word divining to dowsing. Another word, witching, fetches it's meaning from the root word wicca, which means 'to know', reflects dowsing is about tapping into knowledge. However, no words can get the feeling I get when the rods cross. For me, dowsing & divining were a gateway into radionics and related fields. Working with HIERONYMUS style (eloptic) equipment I find one can fine-tune their own senses. If I lost you on this sentence, don't worry, very few people practice with this equipment; bear with me. I believe we're all a part of a mass-consciousness, and we partly create our own realities. Working in psionics, I'm searching to find where the threshold of creating your own reality diverges from simply tuning in to that which pre-exists.
I'm an avid treasure hunter, and learned dowsing from my dad (both pendulum & rod) as a kid. It was etched into my belief system as a child. I had seen him do incredible things. He always had amazing luck. He always said it was god at work, and he was was just a messenger. And he often prayed specifically for what he was after. So I had no problem with 'skepticism' interfering with my abilities when I started this myself. I always accepted it as a natural gift from god.
Also, whenever I or my father 'divine' something, it is usually during a state of meditation, prayer/silence, with yes a total mental focus. It was best to leave him when he was 'zoning out'; he pretty much ignored everyone anyways. It's a very zen thing, to find one self in that moment.
Which is why I like to prospect & treasure hunt. The act of tuning in on something in your heart, and tuning out the busy outside world, is it's own reward. If you haven't already checked out the Science-of-Mind movie, "The Secret", I recommend it. If you have, then you know what I mean about the threshold of creating your own reality.
I hope you enjoyed this reply,
Kurt near Yosemite.
PS - my dad has 'connected' to something new to explore, a stagestop going into yosemite - buildings still intact from the 1800s... owned by neighbors and never really explored. Private and inaccessbile except by permission. I'm already getting visions of what it 'looked' like back them. I'd appreciate the help of anyone interested in some practice at honing their skills.

Wow, fantastic response, and THANK YOU for the obvious large
amount of thought and perception you poured into it!!

No, I have not see The Secret. I will look for it.
I will search some of the resources you noted.

Yes, I know something about co-creating, and lately what they
call remote viewing, which may help you in the exploration of the
Yosemite site.
I have had dreams too - the upshot is that, like your father taught so well,
that this is more of an atunement than a search.
The dreams have suggested there is certain amount of creativity
in making the treasures appear, but also a certain price of admission,
so to speak, in terms of gratitude and respect for the grand design

Mmm! You have started the wheels a-turnin' in my head!

Thanks Vinny,
nice way to sum it up.
I've searched for lost treasure & gold up & down CA, particularly alot in the desert.
When I was a boy, my father took me looking for a lost-padre mine out of Tejon.

I had an adventure, about 10 years ago, I often think about. It really was about tuning in.

Once I was high-plains drifting with a partner, along the CA/AZ divide. We would walk dozens of miles, without trails, across ridges & washes. My partner had a grandmother, who was Piaute. She told of a ledge, where gold could be cut from a vein while standing on horseback. We had some vague directions we followed. We were searching for this spot. I kept trying to 'picture' the old indian, up on his horse, carving out the gold.

But no matter how I tried, the picture wouldn't come in. And it didn't feel right. I kept telling my partner that. I told him I felt we were too many mile off the mark that day. He said he felt it too, but wasn't sure what to do. So we decided to 'unfocus' and see what the terrain would bring us. Now as crazy as this seems, I kept getting visions of someone that looked indian, but more mexican (or spanish). I felt we were near someone's workings, but not our mystery ledge.

On a gut impulse I tracked NE coming out the highlands towards the basin. i got into a gulch where we saw alot of mineral/gem sign. My partner stumbled on a magnificent natural pyramid shaped mega-crystal, that was layered green & white with a white clear apex. Then we started finding more crystal & semi-precious gem-like material... some terminated & double-termiated quartz & quartz-mix, etc.
Finally we stumbled near the front range, getting nearer to civilation but still off the trail, when I found a spanish mine marker sine, posted at a big pile of boulders. There were some cave/caches there. The sign said Cerrado, or Corado (or Coronado); At the time I took as old spanish for Crystal (or Coronado). It seems to be more of a stash-location than a marker. Especially since the sign itself was sorta hidden. Anyway, we stumble around and find more near gem quality crystals... my partner is reluctant to go. But sure as the tug I had to clamber to this place, I felt the tug pulling me farther along.

Finally I hiked down near the basin, before I felt I could be satisified. The crystals were dense there. My partner was ready to go back (a long hike up awaited). Still I felt the tug. I circled a few more hills till I found 'it'. That which was pulling my mind in.
A big mine-hole opening, closed with iron-gates. Inside, a cave covered in crystals. It was a crystal cavern. Really nice sized. The only one I've really ever seen. Since we were near some roads, we figured it must be an old tourist site or something.
Funnily, my Dad stumbled across the same place with his partner, a year later, although I hadn't mentioned it to him (I told him of the ledge gold in the area we sought). He says he wandered into it to; just feeling drawn there. A coincidence?

I searched and haven't heard anyone mention this place. Any old desert-heads listening out there, please let me know.
Sorry if I've been vague, but I think I left enough details.
I'm sure to go back soon. Alot people seem unable to re-locate finds in the desert... I've had no trouble so far, but I think it's because I rely instinct more than visual cues; the desert can change alot more than people think.

So long for now, Kurt

Kurt,
The quest for the cave with the iron door has been the grail for many treasure hunters for MANY years.
Please post a couple photos of it if you have them. especially of the front of the cave (include the door)

Thanks in advance

Thanks Old dog,
I wondered if anyone might read that true yarn. I really appreciate your reply.
I know of a few legends of cave-doors locked to hide (spanish) treasure.

This one I think was to lock the crystals away, I'm guessing.
I have no pics - I hate when people say that ;^). But we had no camera that day or I'd have snapped some pics.
It looked like you could walk in aways (or stoop); it was 5'-10' high. Then it was darker about 10-15 in and hard to see.
The doors seemed heavy & old. Funny how we didn't go back. It was gold we were after.
But we had a handfull-amount each of nice big crystals, stuck in our packs.
We stayed in the region for a week. But ended up re-working an old mining region for some small gold finds...
There were no apparent trash, diggings, or tire-tracks in the region by the crystal-cave with doors. But it wasn't too far from a drive-able wash/valley. But my concept of driveable isn't in most peoples imagination perhaps. We figured there must've been a road down there but didn't see it.
Now on dowsing (to keep true to the subject). On the way back I pulled 1 L-rod out. I always use 1 L-rod when I feel I'm far from a target (100' or more). So I wander the desert alot, with an L-rod in my left hand loosely following it's lead. This time, when we got back to the big rock pile we re-inspected the sign. It was more or less wedged at a 45 degree angle between some boulders. Truth is we couldn't tell if it ever stood up straight.
I felt maybe it was important because we were aways from any trail and didn't seem folks came here to inspect... again albeit with 1mile or so of such regions. Not too far from where a 4whl-drive road was. It was semi-remote. I was carrying a gold bug detector. I ran it time to time but very few areas looked hot. We circled the rock pile where the sign was. The sign was near several larger piles of boulders. There were alot of giant-boulder-clumps (of about 5-25 each) scattered a few hundred yards apart in this region. No real markers or reason why were here where this sign was. The sign used to sorta point down the hill (or so I thought) which is what sorta led me down there to the cavern. The crystals were thickest in washes just above it. It was the finest crystal pickings I had in my life. And truth is we only took about 4-5 each over the many miles we walked. They were so beautiful we felt bad about taking them, because we both loved unspoiled nature. I even tossed one back when we left saying I felt that in particular
belonged to the desert. The others I felt right about taking. My partner's wife stole that collection, along with our gold, about the time of their divorce. Classic, eh?

Because it was at at 45, you had to be close to see it (the sign before I moved it). Nevertheless I think I could find it.
Yet I wish I'd gone back, because 10 years fades the memory some.
Now I say had, because I rather stashed/relocated the sign.
I believe it was the original location before I moved it. It was grey-old weathered.
I think the letters were carved/branded/burned versus painted.
Some of the post was broken off.
If I were to name the canyon we were in, probably several people might step forward to say what this gated cavern is; but I'm been a little cautious to say not knowing what it is yet.
Sorry my story strayed abit as I recall this. My partner likes to climb in caves, holes & the such. He really enjoys it.
So I followed my rod round a corner where the boulders were really stack high. I pulled the 2nd rod out & got a crossing near where we found some stash-holes where the boulders leaned together and such. Seems he crawled through all that.
I figured he'd get snakebit & I didn't know if I could drag him out. So I yelled at him till he crawled out.
And he did find some old boards or rags or something I forget. Enough where he wanted to crawl more. So I let him since he was excited beyond reason. But nothing came.
So we circled the area separately, 1 rod each. I got another strong crossing about 140yards awards at a clump... but I didn't tell my partner as I hate rattlesnakes and I was sure they there as any hombre's stash.
So we wandered off. Vaguely towards the truck but still on a more northern course. It was about 4pm. We'd stumble up to the truck about 3-4hrs later (a little late as cougar feeding time was about then).
1/2 way up the rods led me to a rise & depression. A little lava-bowl we called it. The center was filled with volcanic basalt stuff but laced with pockets of quartz. Got a few hot reads on the gold-bug where my l-rods crossed. They crossed alot on the bowl but only 1-2 spots bleeped the detector. This spot was bout 5-miles out where a buddy found alot heavy nuggets with a detector a few years prior.
But the slag-rocks were like 200lbs each and seems we couldn't dig any target. If it was gold it was deep & heavy.
Followed this down to a small reverse-running wash where a few small pickers nugs were found dry-panning later by my dad.
I've thought of going back, just waiting for someone to step and say that it was some place they used to go and everyone knows about & isn't so special. Well the internet should be good at flushing that out.
If anyone has any juicy tidbits to add this story, I'd love to hear.
I'm just as ready to be embarrased to hear we walked miles to someplace that others may have drove/paid to see easily years ago. I really don't know.
I asked my pops & he doesn't know either.

Back to Uncle-Vinny's thread. I felt and dowsed the region, based on a mental tug. To me that mental tug came from trying to conjure the image of my partners great-great-grandpappy up on the ledge, on his horse, chipping the gold.
Eventually, on another trip, I did connect to this 'feeling' but that's another story.
On this trip I coulnd't connect with that image/feeling. But I got a similar one. I won't speak of images too much, or people will think I was water-deprived or hallucinating in the desert. But I believe old relics hold memories that one can dowse out. The hombre image kept interfering with my concept. So I decided to go with it. At first I thought maybe my partners ancestor was more hispanic than we thought. Later I concluded we were on a whole different trail.
Up till then I'd used him as my radionic link to help us find the ledge. I took the gold baiting off the end of my rod tips. After I followed the whispers of the past as they tugged at my rods to where that weathered old sign lay. It was about 1 mile up the hills from where the canyon base and crystal cave were. Again the single rod led me to the cave, in my estimation. Any variance in angle and we'd have completed missed it. I think I tuned in to the memories left behind by someone else. Because this isn't at all what we were looking for. If I'd created the reality I was dreaming of, I think we'd have hit that rich ledge of gold.
To Mr. aarthrj3811, I've enjoyed your many posts.
I'm a tenderfoot here so I'm not sure of the rules but I'll try to stay on topic.
Thanks, Kurt

Thanks for the reply Kurt,

Email me if you have a hankering to go back to that cave.

I would love to go with you,
if for no other reason than to photograph the place for my own personal collection.

Wow, EXCELLENT post, Kurt.
Thanks for taking the time.

Coupla things . . .

Yeah, I know what you mean about the mental tug.
I also find it's good to be in a pleasant mood.
I was listening to some really wonderful music in the car,
and just felt "in tune" with nature - and it felt right to go out
treasure hunting in that mood. It just seems to help.

The big thing is to try to remember to get into a harmonious
vibration BEFORE I go out looking.

I've used both L rods and a branch Y-shaped.
The live branch worked REALLY well, as it felt as if I had a fish
on the line. This was looking for water, and it was in a field over a water
pipe. My friends had located the ends of that pipe on the sides of the field,
so we knew it was correct.
I have NOT tried it (yet) on treasure hunting.
I figure I'll try some map dowsing, then use the branch when I get
to the spot indicated by the map dowsing.

Related topic: Had a dream I was looking for gold
I suddenly can see the ground as if in X-ray vision, and I can
see all the spots, specs of gold and nuggets. I get the feeling there
is a spiritual company, a kind of guild or something on the spiritual
plane that knows all this, but you have to be working with this
"brotherhood" so to speak in order to be shown the locations.
In other words, it's a planned, programmed thing,
and you have to be in the right place mentally to tune in.
