Picked up some new pieces for my Indiana and Wisconsin trays.

The two pieces on both the left and right sides in the top of the first frame are all Attica Chert and are new pieces from Indiana. The Dove has tip damage but it a sweet little Dove.

The second picture is 15 pieces of Hixton Quartz from Wisconsin and the last picture is my Wisconsin tray.

Love the Attica green. The source is still a mystery. Many people have looked for it to no avail. Supposedly, the deposit of limestone with the flint was dug out back in the 30's for road fill. We get a fair amount of the green here in Cent. IL. Lots of corner notched points especially. Gary

You’re on to something there about the limestone. I know we’ll have non believers, but there is something in the limestone that when it breaks down, it’s chemical composition mixes with layers of other material(later becoming stone), and that’s what I’ve got from some of the portion of the trail of tears is the Attica that when they sat near what’s a present day limestone quarry, all the flint up there is that greenish color. At first I thought it was copper deposits till I found the natural limestone slabs in the creek, flint, and even a cave full of it. Sadly it’s all now turned into a limestone quarry. They did however mark 900’ of original trail of tears land that can’t be disturbed(paving, construction, or anything to change the natural feature), I did however find a nice rim fo a pot of bowl in the spring fed creek. You can tell they heated the water, the inside is blackened.

Looking good in the trays Grim. I'm glad they found a good home!

Hippy

I see the copper. I saw this first on my crappy cell phone & couldn't enlarge the pics. Nice! That fish hook is great.

Hey Grim is there a thread that shows all of them (each state) ? I know that would be a lot of pics but would be neat to see

I put a thread on here a few years back. I'll see if I can locate it and bump it up. I've updated a few trays since then so I'll see if I can get new pictures of those.
