I got out this morning for a quick hour hunt at my old rev war/ war of 1812 colonial site and found this beauty with my new XP Deus x35 9" coil. From what I have seen on the internet, this could have been a French Military Button from the Rev War?

Killer button, as toasted stated your button dates post war from 1792-1795

A hard to find 18th century military/political statement button. This gilded brass over wood button features popular Republican symbols from the period 1792-1795. Features the Roman fasces, an oak wreath, the liberty cap all popular symbols. Over the top of the button are the words REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE.
