made the hike to my new old site deep in the woods twice more this week. The finds started slowing down, but still was able to recover some interesting treasures. The seeted dime is my oldest seated. Does anyone have any clue as to what the cast brass J item is. Thanks.

Sweet dime. The "J" item looks like a drawer pull. Are both ends broken off?
Thx, the piece that looks like a drawer pull is about half of a fancy shoe buckle frame, the โ€œJโ€ is still a mystery. Thought it might be military, but no J company in any of the armed forces.
