Was detecting a couple weeks ago at a practice field at the local high school. Found 4 rings, 2 junk, one small silver, and my first class ring. 10k, class of 1995, not much wear so I figured it was lost close to then. Did some internet research and called the girls mom, she relayed the call and I got a call back that evening. The girl knew right away what I had but I still made her ID it, she got it all correct. We met a couple days ago and I returned it. Local news even did a story on it. Turns out she only had the ring a few months, it slipped off while throwing a football w friends on a cold March day. 16 years in the ground.
It was great to be able to return it, she was super-happy! It felt great and was good public relations for the hobby. Now I have another person asking if I can find hers!

Research is so much easier now with the internet and that makes
being able to locate owners and return lost things to them very
easy in most cases. Kudos to you and well done.
