Returned For Last Time To Parking Strip....Old V Nickel

Late this afternoon I just had to see if I could pull something else out of this small piece of ground I've been working. The parking strip goes for a whole block but it is just in this one spot that has produced some keepers, about 75 sq ft. I was hitting on a few old nails and pcs of tin and I was just about to leave and I said just one more decent reading and then go. The V nickel read mostly in the 70's and 80's on my DFX but not after she was dug, it was strange I never expected an old nickel. I had gone over that nickel at least 15 times and finally she gave in and said here I am. Anyway, the 1884 V is my oldest coin I've found out here in WA and OR.

WOW ~ that's a nice find! My oldest V nickel is 1887. Us West coast guys sure get excited when we dig a pre-1900 coin!

wow, nice looken date on that thing. funny thing, i found a 1884 v nickle last week in tacoma too. but mine is in alot worse shape i can barly read the date.
it is my oldest coin too. lets see who can break 1884 first!!! game-on!! and congrats!!!

Any coin that is pre- 1900 is a great find
for those of us in the northwest..... especially

We don't find too many V nickels out this way either. I was lucky enough to find a couple of them last year (1896 and 1906), but pre silver coins are a lot more often than nickels do. Good find.
