Roman disc brooch

dating to the 2nd or 3rd century AD. these brooches worked like modern safety pins. The brooch is not yet cleaned.

Hi Rob, the brooch is indeed roman. the catch-plate and the pine are missing, but the brooch itself is a common type of brooch in the German provinces of the Roman empire. Congratulations to you on having found such a unusual gilt brooch.!!

Hi Folkert, I was just a little unsure because of the ridge across the back,i've not seen that before on English ones.
