No its not sandstone. Not sure of the rock type buts its the same as all the other river stones here. Definetly a hard heavy stone

I know its hard to see in the pics but the bit is definetly pecked and the tip is worn smooth. Definetly impact fractures on the hammer side, and definetly flakes taken off in center for hafting. If you could see it in person it would be easier to see what im talkin about. Maybe preform but it still had plenty of use. If you look at the overhead view pic it does have a bit,

Maybe a preform that was used along the way to becoming a finished product. It looks to me like they started the bit, just hasnt been worked down to a sharp edge yet. I would think that they would use some tools even in its early preform stage for certain tasks. just a thought. Im defenitely no expert. interesting find thanks for sharing

Looks like a good find to me. May have already been shaped close to celt and they were playing with it working it down further. Looks to be obvious peck marks as well. I think you nailed in in your assesment that and it helps having it in your hand.
