The fields are really beginning to die back now, (they have been sprayed) so can feel our time in these fields is coming to an end 😒… x

So what did we find today, first off a strange little piece, there is some kind of gold stuff on it, u maybe able to see it on the top of the right hand sticky up bit, then a lovely little buckle, a strap end, next a little token(?) weight(?) .. pattern on one side only, bits of buckles, 2 tack pins, little square, a bead and corset lace hole thingy, buttons, and my silver offering today, half a hammered, and finally, either a poor quality hammered or a Jetton 🤔 xx

We are back out tomorrow, but rain is forecast…but we shall not be dissuaded 😆 xx

First one I will guess a clothing fastener.
#4 is interesting I'd rotate it 90° to the right.
Lovely cut half. Lots of detail on it.
The silver a streak continues.
Congrats on your day.

Nice variety of finds. What was the purpose of cutting the coins in half?
my understanding is the lowest denomination of hammered coins were pennies, and so in order to have a smaller amount, these coins had to be cut in half - making it literally a half penny - or into quarters, making a farthing (four-things) xx

Great stuff Blossom. I love that old buckle. 👍
Is that square piece lead? I found a lead dice (die?) once at a CW spot.
I was just wondering if that’s what it could be?
Thanks for the post,
MM

Thanks MM, yes the square is lead, I was so hoping it would be a dice when I cleaned it… but can’t see any marks, but that won’t stop me believing it was once ! 😆 xx

Die blank, to have its dots punched later maybe. It takes a very short time to hammer a lead gun ball square but longer to punch the dots in it.
The sheer variety of your finds is mind boggling, and, of course, the age of many of them. What a lot of different uses people put metal to!
