Saturday's Shocker

Went out yesterday never expecting to find something like this. I dug it at 11 inches and thought I had found my first large cent. Washed it off with a little water and then I didn't know what I had. Once I got home I found it was what I believe to be a King George III. There is no visible date but if anyone has any info on this coin I would appreciate it.

GREAT FIND!!!

And ESPECIALLY for Kentucky!!!!

We've hunted KY like a pack of rabid wolves for a year and a half, and have yet to find a KG copper. Fantastic! I guess that proves that there is hope. :)

Very Nice! Not sure I agree with the ID though. Seems the roman numeral "III" is further forward (the 1 o'clock position) on yours than the example given. In the example shown the "III" seems to be more above his head in the 12 o'clock position. Maybe it my eyes but that what I see ::)

Re: Saturday's Shocker

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the congratulations and comments. I am fairly new to the forum but am amazed with the kindness and hospitality of everyone. This was by far one of my best finds and I am still excited about it.

Thanks,
