Another nice warm sunny day for a 5.5 hour hunt on the new land we started last Sunday. We are calling this one the Saxon Field as we had 4 Saxon items in 1 day (Rare), today was different with only 1 small broken Saxon Strapend. Although Land-Mag joined us for 40 minutes & scouted out the top end of the field with great success, finding an end of a Saxon Cruciform Brooch & a decent Roman Coin. :icon_thumright: (so 6 Saxon period pieces in 2 outings)

Last week we were sure we would hit a Hammered at anytime. Today it happened with a James I Halfgroat (circa 1603-19) found by both Dad & I :headbang: I also got a poor condition Celtic Bronze Coin (2000 years old). That now means in 2 trips we have covered every period in British History:
Neolithic
Bronze Age
Iron Age
Roman
Saxon
Medieval
Post Medieval
Georgian
Modern
This is an unusual thing to happen & it makes it more exciting, as we have no clue what might pop up next

The other finds were:
Nice Buckle (Tudor)
Royal Farthing
Rose Farthing
1799 Halfpenny
Georgian Pan Weight (Trade weight)
Beehive Medieval Thimble
Medieval Pin Head
Part of a Medieval Purse Bar
Lead Cloth Seals
Nice Tudor Clothes Fastener with a still sharp hook - nice to get a complete one for a change :)

& a few buttons :laughing7:

WoW What an impressive display of oldies but goodies! Gorgeous! ... One question though .. in the fourth photo, on the right side, what is that fancy strap-looking relic with a hole in it?

Half of a Medieval Buckle Plate :icon_thumright: So you were close, it went on the end of a leather strap.

I've thought about it, but the person in our area that administers the finds so they can legally leave the country is so slow, you would be waiting 10 months to get your finds shipped to you, which would reflect badly on me.

Your right, its the range we enjoyed, because we still came off the field thinking we were missing the really great find. Crazy really, as we did just fine

Cru, I swear that I have only been a member a very short time and I'll say that I can't remember a week that you have NOT posted pics of some awesome hunt...lol. You must be retired ;D I'm almost there, and honestly hope that I too can post as often as you do after retirement :laughing7: cause that'll mean that I am out enjoying the hunt...
