Went to a new county park adjacent to a 1939 elementary school. First target dug was a flattened soda can down 12 inches. That told me to move away from the fill. Over to some trees and bam! '23 wheat followed by a quartermaster collar disk (dated late '20s to early '30s). Stayed there long enough to pull three buckles and the brass gear piece. Then over closer to the school I uncovered the brass door strike plate. Had a merry old time digging clad at the school ($2.90) and an occasional wheat. Then I dug a wheat on a signal that ranged 68 to 81, put the plug back in and was still getting an 81 near the edge of the plug; dug a secondary plug and the one I'd just replaced and out came Mr. Slick (SLQ).

That was Tuesday. Yesterday after work I hit a spot I'd recovered an IHC from the 1880s and was working through the can shred when a bouncy 68 to 74 signal yielded a deep target that appears to be a gilt cuff link.

Thanks for checking out the picks!

Thanks Tommy! Silver is a tough one. It is about the last thing I expect to find. Always surprised when it shows up.

Thanks Art. Certainly was a "rush" to see the flash of bigger silver in the hole.

Thanks port ewen ace! Yes, it would be difficult to figure a date on any silver that circulated that much. Figuring it was lost around the end of WWII.

Thanks Professor! I think that is the 2nd SLQ I've dug since November 2014. Oddly enough, among quarters that are silver, it is the Barber that I find most often in Baltimore.

Thanks Texas ED! First time hunting at either location. Think I'll head back to the school next week some time.

Hey Weregolf. Yes, the F75 LE has an ear for the hightones. Can shred, rusted square nails and steel bottle caps often sound too good to ignore. Still trying to figure out the sounds.

Thanks J.Cache! Guess they are even more rare to find in Canada,

They sure are, I've only found two in seven years. One really nice 1929, and another that is about as slick as yours.
