I tripped over this article by Peter Diamandis and found it pretty interesting. I thought I understood aluminum (considering how much of it I'm digging these days) but I found it interesting and have a new respect for it even if pull tabs and foil drive me to distraction. After reading the article, I figured the only 'things' that technology can not make abundant are 'old things' because by definition, old things aren't made anymore. Then I concluded that metal detecting technology is sort of making some old things a little less scarce so we're all doing our part (with any luck) in making some scarce things a little less so.
